New Textile Gallery!

Very exciting news has reached us at Glamorgan Guild! Michelle Griffiths the World Shibori Network representative for UK/Ireland is opening a new gallery based in the Model House in Llantrisant.

The Resist Gallery Studio promises to be an exciting development with exhibitions on shibori/tie-dye, batik, ikat, cyanotype resists and eco-resist printing. Not to mention the workshop programme under development, reference library, talks, lectures and much much more!

We are very pleased to have been given the opportunity to display our work during the opening weekend 30th June - 1st July and also do demonstrations - along with other exhibitors from the world of textiles!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Our workshop 'Art Yarns' with Katie Weston was a tremendous success. Katie is an enthusiastic tutor who explained  everything so well it made it really easy to follow her instructions. We had an amazing  day, leaning new and interesting techniques to create some gorgeous art yarns. It took spinning to a whole new level! The skills needed for Art Yarn Spinning definitely helps you to become a better all-round spinner; as you need to be doing so many things all at the same time, whilst maintaining good wheel and drafting control. Ha! At times we were all concentrating so hard that there wasn't a sound in the room...but oh were we pleased when it all came together and we saw that we were actually making a beehive! '40' Exhibition 2018

Our '40' exhibition was held at the Old Hall, Cowbridge from 5th - 29th June. (am only on the 29th June). It was held to celebrate the guild's 40th Anniversary and to show case 40 years of weaving, spinning, dyeing threads yarn and fibre! Some photos of the amazing work being shown at the exhibition are on our facebook page... @GlamorganGuildWSD. About the exhibition: For some of us it's the natural fibre from plants or from animals; for some it's the history, the culture, the techniques; for some it's about meeting others who love to make, or its the fun of learning new skills and extending knowledge and understanding. Whatever our inspiration, we all choose to work with yarn and fibre incorporating techniques and ancient traditional skills that have existed long before us. '40' EXHIBITION 5th - 29th June 2018

This year we are celebrating our 40th Anniversary!  To mark the occasion we are holding an exhibition of our members work at the   Old Hall, High Street Cowbridge CF71 7AH  from the 5th -  29th June 2018.   The Exhibition intends to illustrate the importance of preserving our ancient making traditions. So please come along and have a look at what has inspired us to make a wide range of things from yarn and fibre!  On Saturday 16th June we are holding a 'have a go day' at The Old Hall, so please come along and have some fun having a go at spinning, inkle weaving, weaving, braid-making  its a great way to meet new friends and become a maker.
